group-shot

The Solar feed in tariff in Regional Queensland has now increased from 7.448 cents per kilowatt hour to 10.102 cents per kilowatt hour. Furthermore, the maximum size limit has increased from 5kW to 30kW.

Why this is a huge boost for Small Business Owners and Farmers?

Many Small businesses operate 5 days a week so a large solar system gave them no benefit on weekends, when they were not operating. On many occasions, it made a larger solar system like a 20 or 30kW system uneconomical.

For so many farmers, they are seasonal and solar has not made sense for them as they might only use their pumps and cold rooms for only 9 months of the year.

Now they can install a larger solar system that meets their real daily operating needs and when they don’t use the solar they will get a credit of 10.1 cents a KWH.

The news gets better

With products like Origin Energy’s Solar flex, you can get large solar systems without buying the solar system. Small Businesses and farmers can then buy the energy on many occasions from the solar system at rates up to 60% less than their gird rate.

“This is such a huge boost for small business and farmers to reduce their daily Energy bill without having to use capital on a solar system” John Horan, Group Manager of Horan & Bird.

*You may incur other costs in order for your property to be solar ready (such as electrical works, cabling or roof repairs) and for meter upgrade or changeover. Solar energy rate is subject to change for CPI annually and change in law.
