Horan & Bird has won the prestigious “Employer of the Year” Award at the 2014 Queensland Training Awards. This is the second year in a row that Horan & Bird has been a North Queensland regional finalist in the awards which were held on Saturday night at Jupiters. Regional winners go on to compete in the state awards and, if successful, will be eligible to nominate for national honours at the Australian Training Awards later in the year.
The Queensland Training Awards were established by the government over 50 years ago to recognise and reward the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations who strive for excellence, best practice and innovation in their training practices.
Horan & Bird’s Chief Financial Officer, Adrian Farren, was thrilled to represent the company at the event and accepted the Employer of the Year Award on the team’s behalf. “It was an honour to accept the award, especially given the high calibre of our competition in the category”, said Adrian.
The other finalists in the “Employer of the Year” category were Wilmar Sugar Pty Ltd and Mulgowie Farming Company Bowen.
John Horan, Director, believes that training is key to Horan & Bird’s customer service strategy. “We are multi-skilling employees and encouraging dual trades in order to improve our efficiency and quality of service to customers. Where other companies in our industry need to send three tradespeople to complete electrical, solar and air-conditioning work, we often only need to send one”.
The energy industry is dynamic and constantly changing. Through its commitment to training and development, Horan & Bird remains agile and adaptable to emerging trends and technology.
